The Golden Pheasant or "Chinese Pheasant", is a gloriously colored gamebird that is considered in the same Ruffed Pheasant category as another bird which goes by the name of Lady Amherst Pheasants. This elusive bird is native to forests in mountainous areas of western China where, believe it or not it's rainbow of colors is hard to see in the forest shadows! Easy to work with in captivity, populations have been established in the United Kingdom and elsewhere. It's even said that George Washington raised these beauties at Mt. Vernon! From Jem's Birds of the World Series. Gamebird collectors will enjoy stitching this beautiful piece for the crewel embroidery enthusiast into life in smooth anchor floss on a shimmery evenweave fabric~ the results are absolutely spectacular!
