This exquisite flowers and vines pattern which forms a "Star of the Orient" design was adapted from an elaborate colored plate (plate 88) found in an original volume of Examples of Chinese Ornament by Owen Jones, published in London, 1867. Jones work is credited with introducing Europeans to rare and then-unfamiliar nineteenth century English carpets, furniture, textiles and wallpapers. Item arrived in overly shopworn packaging; we’ve reshrinkwrapped it to keep interior contents clean and ready to work. n
