Peter Ashe is an icon amongst needlepoint canvas designers. His canvases are lauded for their beauty, variety and exceptional quality. Peter's designs are easily worked in traditional tent stitch, continental or basketweave stitches with tapestry wools, silks, or whatever elements the stitcher prefers. He also carefully designs his canvases to accomodate stitchers who prefer to add dimensional elements of silk ribbon embroidery , textured and padded stitches, and more. For the lucky discerning stitcher, the artwork you'll create with one of Peter's Canvases will be an achievement you'll be proud to display an entire lifetime.
This exquisite and large panel design is based on San Francisco's famous steep and crookedy Lombard Street, which boasts the distinction of being the most crooked street in world. Lombard Street is an east -west street which has a super steep block section that has eight switchbacks (tight hairpin turns). Originally named after a Philadelphia street of the same name by San Francisco surveyor Jasper O'Farrell, the street is a natural attraction to artists, film makers, and tourists from all over the world.
This is the largest and considered the signature piece of his out of production San Francisco Series. A must have for the collector!
